Work Begins at Ferrybridge

Published: Monday, 25th March 2013

Construction work has started on the new multifuel generation facility at SSE’s Ferrybridge power station in West Yorkshire.

It is scheduled for completion in 2015 when it will take solid recovered fuel from the Manvers waste treatment facility, where it will be used to generate electricity.

SSE is the UK’s largest non-nuclear electricity producer, and the leading generator of electricity from renewable resources. Ferrybridge also houses the UK’s largest fully integrated carbon capture plant.
