Minerals Engineering Society (MES) Symposium Invitation

Published: Monday, 14th April 2014

Development of the new state of the art waste treatment facility at Manvers is to be showcased at an international event focusing on the production of sustainable energy from waste.

Contractors Shanks Waste Management and the BDR Waste Partnership have been invited by the Minerals Engineering Society (MES) to speak about the facility at the organisation’s annual symposium at Kegworth, East Midlands, on May 15 2014.

The MES exists to advance knowledge and share best practice around minerals engineering, extraction and disposal. This year’s event focuses specifically on the production of sustainable energy from waste.

President of the MES, Ian Flanagan, extended a personal invitation to the BDR Waste Project, saying: “Many members live close to the new plant and have watched it progress since the initial earthworks, so it would be great to hear the story of design and through the build. The plant will be a great asset and job boost to the area and go a long way to reducing the amount of waste the UK still sends to landfill.”

Shanks Waste Management Contract Director, Colin Fletcher, said: We are pleased to have been given this opportunity to share information about the new BDR waste treatment facility with an international audience. The development continues to progress well and we think there’s a really good story to tell about reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and creating new sustainable electricity sources.”
